Bahadur Shah
Zafar was a prolific writer. His greatest writing achievement was
his collection of poetry. From what is known a large amount of his
poetry was destroyed during and after the War of Independence, but even
what remained is quite a large amount and contains some of the finest
Urdu poetry. I have included on this site the complete collection
of his poems, ie. Kulyat Zafar. A number of publishers try to lay claim to the
copyright to his works. As far as I know they make no copyright
payments to his descendants or to any of the foundations under his name.
Due to the passage of time any copyrights have expired all over the
world. The poetry on this site has been put here for the love of
this great Emperor. There are three different formats, available
on this site. There is the Adobe format
which has the whole Kulyat but the files are quite large and will take
time to download, the
Inpage format is
also available on this site but this will require you to download the
Inpage program if it is available and the last and the easiest is the
html format which is quick to
download and read but will be tedious if you want to print it out.
